Regulation of Undergraduate

The faculty of electronic engineering awards the B.Sc. degree in the field of electronics in the following specialization :

  • Computer Science and Engineering.
  • Electronics and communications Engineering.
  • Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering.

The B.Sc. degree is awarded after successfully completing full-time study of five academic years (preparatory Year + 4 years). The study is based on two semester system, each terminated by final examinations.

After the student successfully completes the second year, he has to be directed to one of the faculty departments to enhance his knowledge in a certain specialization through two years: the third and the fourth year.

The student must attend summer training for the preparatory, the first and the second years. The summer training is implemented under the supervision of the staff members of the faculty and is limited to 5 days weekly with 6 hours/day (during the training period) as follows:

For preparatory year, the students train in the Faculty labs on engineering drawing, mechanical workshop, and computer skills, for a period of six weeks in the summer holidays.

For the first year, the students train in the Faculty labs on electric and electronic drawing, electrical workshop and computer skills for a period of six weeks in the summer holidays.

For the second year, the students train in the Faculty labs on computer labs, and electrical workshop for a period of eight weeks in the summer holidays. They also train in the industry and specialized associations outside the Faculty in the average of 30 hours/week. The student gets a financial support according to the University rules for the period of his training outside the faculty.

Marks of the training for each of the preparatory, the first and the second years are given and included in the results of the following year. They also added to the total score of the student. If a student fails in the training subject (or is absent), he must reset a similar training period before getting the B.Sc. degree.

Students of the fourth year (B.Sc. students) have to prepare a B.Sc. project during the academic year. The subject of each project is approved by the concerned department council. An extra period misallocated for the project work after finishing the written examinations. This period is determined by the Faculty and is not less than four weeks. Two hours/week teaching and supervision is given for each student and with a minimum of 15 hours weekly/ project. These hours will be all counted as extra teaching hours.

(a)The student will be promoted to the following year if he succeeds in all the subjects or at most fails in two subjects (in his present academic year and in the years before).

(b) The student is allowed to be promoted to the following year if he fails in the summer training but will not get the B.Sc. degree except after his success in all the summer training.

(c) The student sets the exams in subjects in which he fails with the students of the academic year who study the same course and his success in these courses will be evaluated as pass with max 64%.

(d) Each year, additional rest exams are held in the month of November for the students of the fourth year who failed in a maximum of two courses in the same academic year or in the year before.

(e) If the examination in any subject consists of written, oral and practical examinations, then the student score in this subject consists of the sum of the scores of these exams beside the addition of mid-term score.

(f) Absent student in written examinations and who do not attend the B.Sc. project discussion are considered absent in the course.

(g) The student must attend at least 75% of the lectures to be permitted for final examination. Otherwise, the Faculty Board issues the preventing of the student form setting the exam according to the request of the course supervisor and the concerned department council and the students is considered to be unsuccessful in such courses.

(h) The student can not rest exam in a subject in which he succeeded. But, the subjects not passed by the students are reexamined in the corresponding semester of the next year.

(I) The success of the student in a subject is evaluated as follows:

  • (Distinction) 85% and more
  • (Very good) 75% to less than 85%
  • (Good) 65% to less than 75%
  • (Pass) from 50% up to less than 65%
  • (Fail) less than 50%
  • (j) The unsuccessful student is evaluated as follows:
  • Week form 30 to less 50%
  • Very week less than 30%
