Ph.D.:
- Based on the approval of the Faculty Council, the University of Menoufia awards a Ph.D. Degree in Electronic Engineering. The specialization and the title of the thesis are mentioned in the certificate.
- Regulation for registration in Ph .D. degree in Electronic Engineering:
- The student must have obtained a master degree in Electronic Engineering in the branch of specialization from a recognized scientific Institute, or a Master degree in the branch of specialization from a Faculty or Institute which is recognized by the University. In addition, a Bachelor degree from one of the faculties of Engineering working according to the organizing law of the universities.
- The student must provide written evidence from his work approving him to be free for at least two days week for study and research.
- The student must submit a request to the Dean of the Faculty who, in turn, transfers it to the relevant department, to give its opinion and nominate the supervisor for determining the precise specialization and the research subject; having completed the paper work, the department puts the whole matter before the Faculty Council to give his decision before being approved by the University Council.
- The Ph. D thesis should be supervised by professors or associate professors. Specialized people of equal levels from outside the University may participate in the supervision. Lecturers from the Faculty may also help in this. A foreign supervisor from one of the foreign Universities or Institutes may also take part in the supervision. Channels may be opened through the foreign supervisor.
- Conditions for obtaining a Ph. D. degree in Electronic Engineering:
- · The student must pass successfully the examination approved by Faculty Council and for which a committee is suggested by the Department Council. The committee must be approved by the Faculty Council and is composed of five associate professors one of them is the supervisor (s) and two from the department (outside the supervising committee) and two from outside the department or equally level persons before the discussion of the thesis by at least a year. In case of the student failing to pass the first examination and in light of what the Department Council and the supervising committee decide, the Faculty Council may offer him another chance in a period of time of six months, at least, from the date of the first examination.
- · The student must carry out a novel scientific research which represents a new addition to the field of study with a period of at least two years from the date of registration for the degree.
- · The student must submit the research in a thesis accepted by the judging committee after discussing it openly. The judging committee is composed according to a decision from the Faculty Council, in light of a suggestion from the concerned Department Council from the supervisor (s) as a member and two professors one of then at least is from outside the University. The open discussion may take place in the presence of the other two members plus a member substituting the foreign professor taking care not to violate the universities organizing law. In this case, only the individual report of the foreign member will be sufficient.
- · It is up to the committee to ask the student to complete some points and fix an additional time period for that.
- Rules of discard a Ph. D registration:
- · If the student dose not get the degree within five years from the date of registration (considering the cases of halting the registration ) after considering the supervising committee opinion, unless in case where the Faculty Council keeps the registration for another period which could be decided as the supervisor suggests and according to the approval of the Department Council.
- · Based on a report from the supervisors after consideration from the Department and the Faculty Council, and Higher Studies Committee in the University. The student should be notified officially by the decision.
- · If the judging committee totally rejects the thesis.
- · If the student asks for canceling the registration.
- · The Faculty Council organizes a seminar to be given by the student. All staff should attend this seminar which is regularly given for 2 hours weekly all over the year.
